Match report under 11s

I think we can all say with some certainty that we missed that over the past 4 months!! Not even a spot of rain could dampen our spirits! I think most of the kids were still asleep during the first half. A lot of turn over ball at the ruck, even at scrum time, and standing off in the tackle and not pushing up in our defensive line. Leading to a 0-14 deficit at halftime. This was discussed at halftime and we couldn't have asked for a better response. We starting clearing out at the ruck, and our pop off the floor game (that we have been working on throughout the summer) really came to life. This enabled us to get on the front foot with very quick ball. On the back of this we spread the ball wide at will and scored some great tries. Ending up winning 28-14. Our defensive line push was far more aggressive in the second half, which was the hallmark of our game last season, and led to more turnover ball in our favour. We looked very narrow defensively at times with our backs having to have a bit more belief in their tackling ability and therefore spread across the pitch a bit more. Overall the second half was very good, both gutsy and fluent. We have the approach this season that we want to see the kids skill sets develop, putting more emphasis on this than on results. It's nice to win but it's far more important to develop and do the right things. Do the right things well and results come on the back of that. Plenty to work on but also plenty to be pleased with. Good work everyone, our ever expanding coaching team 👍🏻🏉👍🏻🏉
